Introduction
As LTC (License to Carry) students and responsible firearm owners, we understand the importance of rights, responsibility, and readiness. This Memorial Day, while many enjoy the long weekend and the kickoff to summer, we pause to remember the men and women of our Armed Forces who gave their lives to protect the very freedoms we cherish—including the right to bear arms.
The True Meaning Behind the Holiday
Memorial Day is more than just a break from routine or a chance to fire up the grill. It’s a solemn day of remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. It’s a day to honor their courage, reflect on their legacy, and show our respect for the price of freedom.
Each state sets its own rules about which out-of-state licenses it accepts, and those agreements can change. So, even if two states are neighbors, they may not recognize each other’s permits.
Why It Matters to LTC Holders
As someone training for or already holding a License to Carry in Texas, you stand among a group of Americans who take self-defense, personal responsibility, and constitutional rights seriously. But with those rights comes the duty to honor those who secured them with their lives.
Many of the rights we enjoy—including the Second Amendment—were defended on the battlefield. Memorial Day reminds us that our freedoms aren’t free; they were paid for in blood by brave Americans who believed in something greater than themselves.
Ways to Observe Memorial Day as an LTC Student
Here are a few meaningful ways you can honor Memorial Day through the lens of an LTC student:
• Attend a local Memorial Day ceremony or visit a veterans’ cemetery. Bring your family and share why remembrance matters.
• Fly your U.S. flag at half-staff until noon as a sign of mourning.
• Take a moment of silence at 3 PM for the National Moment of Remembrance.
• Dedicate your range time this weekend to someone who served. Practice with intention, focus, and gratitude.
• Teach others about gun safety and responsibility—because honoring those who served includes protecting what they died defending.
Remember Their Sacrifice
As you train, carry, and prepare to protect, never forget those who carried the burden of battle so you could live free. Memorial Day isn’t just a holiday—it’s a powerful reminder of what it means to be American, to be free, and to be responsible.
From all of us committed to training safe, knowledgeable LTC holders: we remember and honor our fallen heroes.
